On August 21, the Fourth Beijing Accounting Knowledge Competition, organized by the Beijing Municipal Finance Bureau and co-hosted by Beijing University of Commerce and other institutions, concluded successfully. As a key co-hosting unit, the Business School of Beijing University of Commerce played an integral role in critical aspects of the competition, including the design of the event framework, development of examination content, and overall coordination. The School fully leveraged its academic strengths in accounting and finance to support the development of high-caliber accounting professionals in Beijing and contribute to the city’s economic advancement and high-quality growth.

Since the launch of the competition in June this year, the Business School has leveraged its strong academic foundation and extensive industry resources to organize a team of expert faculty members in designing the full process of the semi-finals and finals, including the development of questions for the oral examination. The competition content comprehensively covers key domains such as accounting laws and regulations, rules and normative documents, accounting standards, internal control, management accounting, and government accounting, providing a systematic assessment of participants’ professional competence. The examination design emphasizes the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical application, highlighting both professional rigor and contemporary relevance, thereby ensuring that the competition aligns with policy direction while addressing real-world industry demands.

On the day of the finals, Professor Mao Xinshu, Associate President of Beijing Technology and Business University, was invited to serve as a judge for the competition and presented awards to the winning participants after the event. In a post-event interview, Professor Mao emphasized that the competition serves not only as a platform for accounting professionals to demonstrate their expertise, but also as a vital conduit for advancing the accounting legal framework, promoting accounting culture, and fostering professional exchange within the industry.

Held to mark the first anniversary of the implementation of the new Accounting Law, this competition comprehensively assessed and enhanced the professional competence and ethical standards of accounting professionals in Beijing. It effectively fostered a positive industry-wide culture of respecting, studying, observing, and applying the law. By actively participating in and co-hosting the event, the Business School not only demonstrated its academic leadership in finance and accounting but also reaffirmed its commitment to serving society and advancing the high-quality development of the profession.
