When geological wonders formed over hundreds of millions of years converge with the profound revolutionary history of the Communist Party of China, two immersive cultural programs have been brought to campus. Recently, the “Fangshan Cultural Lecture Hall” series—organized by the Cultural and Tourism Bureau of Fangshan District and centered on dual thematic pillars—was successfully held at the Business School, enriching students’ understanding through an integrated experience of education and inspiration. The events enabled participants to gain deeper insights into Fangshan’s rich revolutionary heritage and exceptional natural landscapes.
On November 14, in the lecture hall of Liangxiang Campus, the atmosphere was vibrant with resonant singing and sustained applause. Ms. Xing Xiu-hua, a distinguished gold medal lecturer of the Fangshan District Cultural and Tourism Promotion Team and volunteer docent at the Revolutionary Song Memorial Hall dedicated to “Without the Communist Party, There Would Be No New China,” delivered a thematic lecture titled “The History of the Communist Party Through Red Songs.” Through a curated selection of revolutionary music, she traced the grand and inspiring journey of the Communist Party of China, bringing historical milestones to life through melody and lyric.
From “Nanhu Ode,” a song symbolizing the founding mission of the Communist Party of China, to “August Chrysanthemum Blooming Everywhere,” which captures the fervor of the Agrarian Revolutionary Period; from “Shandan Danhua Blooming Brightly,” celebrating the Red Army’s triumph in the Long March, to “Nanmuwan,” embodying the spirit of self-reliance; and onward to the stirring “Defend the Yellow River” and the culminating anthem “Without the Communist Party, There Would Be No New China,” each revolutionary song was enriched with vivid historical context. Ms. Xing not only elucidated the historical background and ideological significance of each piece but also engaged students through soft choral participation and interactive Q&A sessions, enabling Party history education to resonate deeply through melody. This immersive approach allowed participants to revisit the arduous and heroic chapters of history and reflect on the enduring power of revolutionary faith.
This event brought local revolutionary cultural resources into the campus, employing artistic expression to strengthen the appeal and effectiveness of Party history education. It successfully inspired patriotic fervor and a spirit of endeavor among students at the Business School. Participants widely praised the innovative format of “learning history through song,” describing it as engaging and memorable. Immersed in the power of music and art, they drew profound spiritual strength, reinforcing their commitment to inherit the red genealogy and fulfill the responsibilities of the new era.
On November 19, Liu Shuangqi, a gold medal lecturer at the China Fangshan World Geopark Museum, delivered a lecture titled “Unveiling the Miracle of Millions of Years of Natural Sculpting” to over one hundred students, launching an engaging journey into the secrets of Earth’s evolution. During the 90-minute immersive session, the awe-inspiring geological processes spanning hundreds of millions of years were systematically presented through expert narration, enabling attendees to gain a profound appreciation of the unique characteristics of Fangshan’s geological landscape. Structured around the geological timescale, the presentation traced back to ancient rock formations dating billions of years and guided students through the majestic karst peak forests, the intricate underground cave systems, and the expansive alpine meadows—highlighting Fangshan’s exceptional role in preserving an almost complete record of Earth’s evolutionary history. Through a rich array of geological specimen images and clear, dynamic explanations of geomorphological formation mechanisms, complex scientific concepts were rendered accessible and visually compelling.
During the interactive session, students from the Business School actively engaged in the question-and-answer segment, demonstrating keen interest by inquiring into the etymology of the term “Karst” and exploring the principal mineral resources found in Fangshan. Questions were posed continuously, fostering a dynamic and intellectually stimulating atmosphere. Participants widely expressed that the lecture not only enhanced their scientific understanding but also sparked a lasting interest in geological exploration. Many remarked that they gained a deeper appreciation of Fangshan’s distinctive value as a “natural geological museum,” where Earth’s history is vividly preserved and accessible for study.
This event is part of the 2025 “Youth Ambassador, I Am for Fangshan” series of university-local collaborative cultural and tourism initiatives organized by the Fangshan District Culture and Tourism Bureau. By integrating expert lectures with interactive experiential learning, it presents to university students the rich historical heritage and diverse tourism landscape of Fangshan, fostering their curiosity about the region and inspiring active engagement in its cultural promotion. Going forward, the college will further strengthen collaboration with local institutions, build an efficient school-local cooperative education framework, and guide young people to contribute youthful vitality to the region’s high-quality development.
